Can listening to music or watching something on my computer mess up the process of burning a CD or DVD? I'm just wondering if somehow the audio or something along those lines could somehow accidentally be transferred from what I'm watching/listening to into the CD/DVD I'm burning.
Only answers from people who know what they're talking about, please.

when burning CDs or DVDs it takes a lot of resources to, especially if you are staging to hard drive .
on some computers when burning films just moving the mouse is enough to upset the process.

yes it might affect the burning, but not that way.
burning is a CPU-intensive task, and it might cause some quirks in the CD if you did that.
But, I do not mean it will cause horrible damages. Just minor annoyances.
