since both windows vista & red hat enterprise linux 5 has partitioning hard disk as default option in OS cd when i installed red hat os first & when i tried to install vista as DUAL OS in other partitition i was not able to,now again i have installed vista 1st & partitioned the hd for red hat,but now i want to instal it in other partitioned drive without affecting vista.cud it be done as it is or a special software to be used.PLS HELP ME.thanks a lot in advanece

your question unclear...if you want to make your computer dual boot.than install vista first than Linux.

it will be difficult if you want to install linux first than vista.so please install vista first.its not a problem...just go ahead

I'm not certain I understand you. If you mean that your current situation is that you have Vista installed, set aside a partition for RHEL, but now want to install RHEL elsewhere, as long as the partition already exists it shouldn't be a problem.



If you mean you have a second hard drive you want to install RHEL to, go right ahead. You should read the GRUB (GRand Unified Bootloader- Linux uses great names for things, doesn't it?) documentation if you're going to be booting off of multiple drives, it will probably save you a headache or two.



In general, when dual-booting Windows and Linux, you want to install Windows first so when you install Linux, you'll get the more flexible GRUB bootloader.
