Is there a place to download Windows Media Player 12?

Everything keeps sending me to the Microsoft page where it just says it's already included in Windows 7. It wasn't included in mine, but nonetheless, my WMP11 has been screwing up for awhile. It won't play music or load on its own, it crashes. It will still open and play videos if you click the video and don't open WMP first. I thought I would try the good ol' reinstall but saw that 12 was out. I can't find it though. Reinstalling 11 doesn't fix the problem either, it continues to do the same thing.

So, I'm looking for a place to get 12 or a way to fix 11, though the former is preferable. Thanks.

Windows Media Player 12 is part of Windows 7.

I checked with Microsoft Download Center & couldn't find Windows Media Player 12 to download. According to CNET "Windows Media Player 12 comes as part of Windows 7 and is not available as a separate download".

But Softonic does have links to download WMP 12.

PS Have a look at Winamp for playing music & Media Player Classic - Home Cinema for playing videos. Both are free & really much better then WMP.

This page says that WMP 11 comes bundled with Windows Vista, and WMP 12 comes with Windows 7. At the bottom are links to the Microsoft comminity where you can ask questions on a forum about your issues, or browse through questions that people have already asked to see if you can find a solution to what you are looking for. I got these results from putting "Windows Media Player" in the search box.

Another thing you can do is ask the experts at Microsoft Support. (third link) I have asked for help using this method and have found them to be very helpful. The support is free. You have to have a Microsoft/WindowsLive email account like Hotmail in order to use the service.

They can probably send you an internal link to download WMP 12..
