Make text superscript or subscript

Select the text that you want to format as superscript (superscript: Describes text that is slightly higher than other text on a line, such as a footnote reference mark.) or subscript (subscript: Describes text that is slightly lower than other text on a line. Subscripts are often used in scientific formulas.).

On the Format menu, click Font, and then click the Font tab.

Select the Superscript or Subscript check box.

Keyboard shortcuts

Superscript: Press CTRL+SHIFT+=

Subscript: Press CTRL+=

In general, you can find the shortcut keys just by looking at the menus in Excel (for 2007 and earlier). You can also find many of them in the help. Here are a couple of the most common and useful Ctrl+A - Select All Ctrl+B - Bold (when text is highligted) Ctrl+C - Copy Ctrl+F - Find Ctrl+H - Find and Replace Ctrl+O - Open File Ctrl+P - Print Ctrl+S - Save file Ctrl+V - Paste selection Ctrl+X - Cut selection Ctrl+Z - Undo Ctrl+1 - Format Cells F1 - help There are also several shortcuts using Ctrl+Shift and Ctrl+Alt, but the above ones are probably the most common and helpful to everyday users.
