I just installed a new hard drive on my computer. Upon re-installing Windows 7, before it starts for the first time, Windows prompts me to log into the account I just created, with a password. The problem is, I didn't set any password to the account, and so I can't log into windows. I've tried "admin", "password", and several others, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

You don't have it reinstall Windows 7, here are some methods I know:

1. Log on your computer by using built-in administrator account in safe mode, its password is default blank if you never change it. So that you can use it to change all other user password.

2. Use a password reset disk if you have already created.

3. If the methods above are unavailable, you have to reinstall your system, or else you must use a password tool to crack it.

Recommend you to use Windows password rescuer, it is simple and safe, and can recover windows password in several minutes. You can free download here: windowspasswordsrecovery.com and try it free if you need. Follow the steps you can easily recover the password. It is only four steps:

You can get into the Safe Mode to reset your account password from “Control Panel -> User Accounts”. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.

But note that it just appears when you have enable it before or there is not other admin account exist.

Windows 7 also provide another method to recover forgotten Password by using “Reset Disk”. If you created a Password Reset Disk in Past, you can use that disk to reset the password. If you want to save time and without lose anything, recommend you to use a third party software--Windows Password Rescuer. It can recover windows 7/vista/xp/2008/2003/2000 password within several minutes.Or you can use Daos Windows 7 Password Recovery Tool. No need to reinstall your operation system.Only four steps to recover the password:

Step 1: Download Windows Password Rescuer/Daos Windows 7 Password Recovery Tool on another computer.

Step 2: Install Windows Password Rescuer/Daos Windows 7 Password Recovery Tool and use it to burn a bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive

Step 3: BIOS setting, setup your computer boot from CD/DVD or USB

Step 4: Reset Windows password by a few clicks. You also can use Windows Password Rescuer/Daos Windows 7 Password Recovery Tool to add a new user with administrator privilege to your Windows. With this New user account you can logon your locked computer directly

I suggest you try hard to remember your windows passwords, and try them a few times. If this still doesn't word, You have only two ways to solve this problem. Reinstall Windows or reset the old password with windows password reset tool. I do not recommend you to reinstall Windows, which may lead a data loss. So if you really can not remember the password, try following steps:

1. Download Window Password Seeker and install it on that PC.

2. It is an ISO file. Burn the ISO file to a CD/DVD or a USB flash drive.

3. Boot the locked computer from CD/DVD and remove Windows password

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. The only way to reset your windows password 100% safe is to use a software called Reset Password Pro.

The software allows you to create a boot-disk, that can be made on a CD/DVD or USB stick. The boot-disk can then be inserted into any locked machine, and it's a simple case of pressing reset. Here is their official site: http://www.resetwindowspass.com

If you cant remember your only administrator password, you need to use Windows password recovery tool to reset the password, or reinstall your system with boot-CD. If you have a Windows password reset disk, you can also easily reset your password with it. For reset tools, some of them are freeware, such as: Ophcrack, Offline NT Password & Registry Editor, Cain & Abel, PC Login, and shareware Windows Password Unlocker is a good choice for Windows password recovery, it can easily reset your Windows user and administrator password to blank without reinstalling your system. And it also supports for USB recovery.

Here are three methods for you;

1. Log on your computer by using built-in Administrator account in safe mode, its password is default blank if you never change it. So that you can use it to change all other user password.

2.Use a password reset disk if you have already created.

3.If the methods above are unavailable, you have to reinstall your system, but I that would result in data losing. or else you must use a password tool to crack it.

Recommend you to use SmartKey Windows Password Recovery,it is simple and safe, and can recover windows password in several minutes.

Have you tried with no password entered? If that does not work, you will need to re-install. All the holes in the system which allowed breaking passwords on stolen machines have been blocked now, unfortunately this affects all of us.

Unlucky, if it's the admin account, unless you are psychic, there isn't much chance of you getting in with out hiring a specialist.

But if you can't get in, how were you able to post this question???
