Numerous .tmp files are appearing in my Temp folder. Everytime I use my computer, two of these files are created, one 5mb, one 8mb. This has been going on for a while, and now they take up 10Gb.
The files are named fnm***.tmp
What are they?

.tmp files are classic "temp" files.

They are used only during the active session and should get deleted automatically when you shut the PC down.

Its not unusual for this automatic deletion routine to fail for some reason and they can just build up. Just delete them now and again.

You can *definately* safely delete them.

If you are good with folder views etc then only delete those that have a date earlier than today's date.

If not - just delete them all anyway - any from today will refuse to delete. No big deal.

Theye are Temporary files, created by numerous applications. Some applications do not clean up well after themselves. System crashes can also leave them behind,

It is safe to delete them. Any active temp file will not be deleted. You will receive an error message that an active file is in use.

Hi

This is a typical issue when you have a ad aware installed on your computer (intentional/unintentional). Please remove any ad aware by going to control panel.

If you don't see any installation there and want a quick solution. You can start you computer in dos mode and then remove all the fnm***.tmp files.

Thanks
