It's not Comcast that's doing the monitoring, it's the copyright holder of something you downloaded. You're using a torrent client or some other P2P software, right? Well, the way these programs share files makes the info of those who have them on their computer available to everyone else. There is really no other way to do it. The copyright holders monitor that info, send notice to your ISP (Comcast) and they send notice to you.

This has been going on for years and won't end anytime soon. You'll just have to be more careful about your torrenting.

They've been monitoring connections for piracy for a long time, actually. You did something illegal, they caught you, and they're warning you that if you do it again, they'll cut off your service.

It's not "BS". You're breaking the law.
