I'm going on vacation for 1 week and my sister wants to use my PC for the internet. Last time I took off for 3 weeks and came back, my PC was completely jacked up. She accidentally reinstalled windows because she kept pressing random buttons during start-up, because she was so impatient on waiting for my PC to start up.

So how can I protect my PC so she has no access to 'MY DOCUMENTS' or 'DESKTOP'? I only want her to have access to IE not my firefox.

I already explained to her that my PC takes about 2 minutes to start up, so I asked her to be FREAKIN PATIENT and leave the room for 5 minutes and not to touch anything until she see a desktop running.

create a new user account and give her tha passowrd to that, then she would not be able to access your own stuff.

go to control panel, then user account and pronto!

If you want her to have access to the machine, then you can create a guest account by going to Start > Control Panel and choosing the User Accounts icon. Select "Create a New Account" from the list, and follow the instructions.

If you want to block the computer completely, reboot the system, and as soon as it starts into the manufacturer's logo (Dell, HP, or whatever...) hit the Delete key to go into setup. You can set a password on the BIOS, and NOBODY will be able to break that unless they know how to pull the battery out of the motherboard. Be sure NOT to forget the password, or you won't be able to get in either!

First of all, there is no way to block My documents, and your desktop is even less capable. second of all, something's wrong with you if you've got that kind of stuff on your computer. at least you're worried.

You might be able to add her as a new user, and that way she wouldn't have access to any of your stuff. just make her a limited account, which you can all do under the control panel.

make a second user profile for her, and then password protect yours. she wont be able to access ANYTHING of yours, and if you dont give her admin privledges, she wont be able to install anything onto the comp either. just give her the lowest access privledges allowed.
