I'm pretty sure there has to be some sort of homemade way to push your download speeds up!
My downloads max out at 160 kb/s and I need to make them faster. My internet connection is about 1.2 mBits.. so yeah. Does someone know how to make downloads faster if possible?

its teh servers you are downloading from. Some servers limit on how much you are downloading and they wont even tell you that. Sometimes I would be downloading at 200KB/sec and sometimes 1250KB/Sec. It all matters if the servers are limiting your Download speeds.

A torrents speed always depends upon the torrent you download. Unless the torernt has good seeds it is very difficult to get desired speeds. Port is important and you can also type in google, how to speed up utorrent and try the tweaks they give you. I use utorrent I sometime have the same problem when a torrent is bad. Try another torrent.

If your running thought a router then you can open up a specific port for your downloads to go thought. rather then scanning for an open port and then downloading it will be pushed to the port you specified and begins that much faster. Go to this site and find your router, then select the program you are trying to download with (ie. Limewire, BitTorrent ex.) and follow the steps it tells you :)
