Not really a wise move to put Windows XP back on a system like yours.

1. Windows XP Pro can't take advantage of multi-cores. Now it can see multi-cores but can't take advantage of it. Windows 7 can take advantage of multi-cores.

2. Windows XP is now legacy meaning no other updates beyond security updates.

3. Windows 7 has better battery life then Windows XP which is important to you considering you have a laptop.

Windows XP was great for it's time but unless you run an old system or your system came with XP, there is no reason to downgrade from Windows 7 to Windows XP.

Um... why go back to WinXP or Win98???

Win7 is actually BETTER than either of them!

Anyway... forget about Win98 since most people don't use it anymore and finding drivers for hardware devices are almost impossible now unless you have the original driver CDs that came with your computer!

Problem is... if your PC is relatively new (since you have Win7), you'll have to hunt down the drivers first for your hardware since WinXP will probably NOT have them!

You need to reformat your hard drive from scratch then put in the WinXP system CD to install it. Afterwards, you'll then need your drivers CD for all your hardware devices that's in your computer or else you won't get anything to work!

Don't go farther back than XP or you won't find drivers or any software that will work with it! You must reformat the disk before you can do an install of a different OS!
