Basically, I want to convert my monitor into a mirror, and have been thinking of changing my desktop background.
Scanning my mirror didn't work, what do I do?

Wow cool idea, but I'm afraid scanning a mirror wont do it. You need a webcam. Fix it on top of your monitor aimed at you and it will show yourself in the screen.

the only way is to set up a webcam
or better still buy a mirror and have next to you pc

Screens are not reflective like that. You'd have to buy a webcam and set it up so it displays whatever it sees.
