We just got a new laptop, and all the websites have two vertical bars on the side, so the website only takes up like half of the page. How can I expand it so it fits the full screen?

Some web sites are written to fill the browser (width="100%"), others are written to take up a certain width. There are utilities that can change the way you see a site (the Greasemonkey add-on for Firefox, for example), but you'd have to write the script to make it do what you want.

(If you have a smaller screen resolution you won't notice it so much, but you probably don't want to do that - you bought a laptop with, among other things, better resolution.)

In most browsers you can view full screen by simply pressing the F11 button.
