Question:
Windows Media Player renaming and moving files?

Hi all, I am fed up with WMP11 renaming and moving music, often duplicating them at the same time. I have unticked the boxes for downloading additional information etc., but still it does it. I really do not want my music in folders by artist, then album title - just one long list as I use it like that for DJing. It appears to look through each song in the 'My Music' folder every day and if a track was off a particular album, it renames the file in My Music and seems to also create a folder for the artist and duplicates the file.

Please someone tell me why it's doing it and how I can stop it. Yesterday it changed 100 track titles and added 850 albumart images. I only ever want anything listed as, for example : Killers - Mr. Brightside.mp3.

Is there any way also for it to just save like this when I rip a CD? So it just saves in the folder I have specified, and doesn't then stick it in 'Killers' and 'Hot Fuss' which it creates itself?

Bring WMP7 or something! Thanks.

I assume you are running XP?? WMP11 and IE7 have this habit of going crazy every so often. I now know through experience the fix for both of them.

Uninstall WMP11 through Ad or Remove it will rollback to WMP10 or whatever you had last. restart. Reinstall WMP11 straight away. You will have lost nothing all will be as you had it before it went belly up IE7 acts the same

Make a Restore Point before uninstalling it just in case and you can undo any changes.

I hope you are not running Vista if so. God help you because XP is still full of lumps and mankind has not yet come to terms with that. Vista is for Trekers in the Twilight Zone of Computing.

Good luck

first see in the experience that your participant is made to be synced with w m participant ! like ipod is for itunes ... if sure .. see in the experience that your information (audio information) are mp3 or no longer ... lots of the gamers play purely mp3 information .. or seem of the different spesific style of record formats .. if each and everything fails .. call shopper care ! ;)
