I installed Samba and it says I need to be logged in as root. I went to the users menu and changed the password of root so I could acesses it. I am the Administator and I don't know why I don't know the password for root. Anyway, when I did log in, it said that I can't log in from that screen. HELP?!?!

On a small scale it incredibly is no longer mandatory in spite of the undeniable fact that it is going to grow to be a bad habit once you paintings as a sys admin on the organisation point. Like somebody mentioned in case you run a delete command as root and it replaced into the incorrect report then there's a great headache there. once you're engaged on basically one equipment it incredibly is fairly ordinary to concentration and not make errors. once you're an admin you have your help team IM flashing for escalations, diverse root shells open to distinctive servers, and executives pressuring ingredient initiatives. If it incredibly is stressful to prepend your instructions with sudo create an alias for it.

If you forgot the root password you are fuc*3d. You will have to run a system recovery from the installation disk and reinstall your system without deleting any files.
