I have some info on 3.5 floppy discs that I want to put on my computer so I can put the info on a cd. I don't have a floppy drive but I have a friend that does. He doesnt have a cd burner on his computer so I want to know if you can somehow hook the 2 computers together so you can transfer the info from the disc's from 1 computer to the other. I looked into buying a floppy drive but I dont want to spend $40 for one. Please help.

Yes, you can get a crossover Ethernet cable, and connect it between the two machines' Ethernet ports. (or if you already have a router, you can forget the crossover cable and just plug both machines into the router).

Then one machine will have to turn on file sharing and set it up (look at your Windows Help for instructions), and then you can transfer data between the two machines.

If both machines have USB ports, a USB memory keychain "drive" might be simpler for transfers.

If the files are small, you can register on a site like box.net which lets you store files online, with 1 gigabyte of space for free. You can store the files there, and then download them on the second computer. That way, you don't need to hook up the computers at all.

If both of the computers have an internet connection, simply put the contents of the floppy into a folder and zip it, then email the file.

Or use Filedropper>http://www.filedropper.com/

Just hook them together with a simple Ethernet Cable.

Then put whatever files you want to share in the "Shared" folder on your C:/ drive.
