Hi, my laptop (dell with windows 7) has been doing am update af it gets to 99% then says failure configuring service pack reverting.

I have done system restore which does allow me to get into my computer but then when i switch it off again it just tries to do the updates again so does not work when i turn the computer back on.

I tried manually downloading the file from the internet but it made no difference. what can i do? Im not very tech savvy at all so something easily explained would be really helpful.

Thanks!

Hi Alicia

My name is Harish and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. I would agree with steps suggested by Gleelover, System readiness tool would be the first step that you try before installing service pack ( Check the following link from Microsoft on troubleshooting service pack installation issue )

Hope this was helpful.

Hi Alicia

Check the following link , You could try the windows update troubleshooter first, if still the same issue- Perform a Inplace upgrade.
