How can I enter page numbers and a header in a Word document starting at page 7?

The first 6 pages are either blank, foreword and content and I don't want a header or page number on these. So I actually want to start my numbering on page 7.

I know this works, because I tried it on an 84 page document of my own. Insert a section break (Insert menu, break - section, next page) where you want to start numbering. Click in the section you want to number. On the view menu - Headers and Footers. Do you want the number at the top or bottom of the page - if at the bottom click on the 'Switch between header and Footer' icon on the H&F toolbar. On the H&F toolbar click same as previous (to deselect it). On the Insert menu, click page numbers, click Format, in the start at box enter whatever number you want. You will end up with blank headers/footers on pages 1 - 6 but as far as I know you can't get rid of these, but as they're blank, they should be no problem.

Click in the section where you want to change the starting page number.

On the Insert menu, click Page Numbers.

Click Format.

In the Start at box, enter a number.

Easy. Go to the end of page 6/beginning of page 7, insert an odd page section break, then Insert - Page Numbers - Format - Start At.

Scroll to the end of page 6

Insert SECTION BREAK [Insert Menu > Break]

Scroll to top of page 7

> VIEW

> HEADER & FOOTER

Tool bar will appear – Type in you text in the header & add/format page number from the tool bar.

ON THE TOP TOOLBOX THERE IS A 'INSERT'

CLICK ON THAT THEN YOU WILL SEE INSERT PAGES OR NUMBERS. OPEN A SMALL TEXT BOX WHERE YOU WANT THE NUMBER TO BE (TEXT BOX IS LIKE WHAT OPEN BEFORE YOU CAN EDIT ANYTHING) YOU CAN MAKE IT AS BIG AS YOU CAN AND THEN ON THE TOP YOU WILL SEE IN WHAT YOU WANT TO WRITE THE LETTER NEXT TO IT IS A NUMBER YOU CAN CHANGE THAT NUMBER TO HOW BIG YOU WANT THE LETTER
