I've never used mandriva, but I'll see what I can do. First you're missing flash, which you can get from link 1 below.

Second, you probably need to install your graphics drivers. This can be complicated, so I recommend you google how to do that for a mandriva system.

ARC I think is Mandriva file archiver (think 7z from Windows or Archive Manager from Ubuntu). So it's probably a tar.gz file. If you extract that and then compile it, it should run. Totem is an audio codec, don't worry about it. You should update your java. 1.6.30 is the latest version (I think, or at least it was a few weeks ago).

I'm not sure if there's an auto update system for Mandriva, but you might want to start there.

Too reliable to be authentic? No... Linux is an amazingly valuable equipment. there is rather a gaining know-how of curve in the start, and reckoning on the point of help on your hardware and precisely what you go with to do, some bits would be extra complicated than others. yet any good Linux distro will serve the desires of the typical laptop consumer (and additionally extra more suitable shoppers) out of the field. additionally, very nearly each and every distro of Linux is attainable for loose (and criminal) acquire on the internet. Firefox comes with maximum Linux distros, you probably did no longer ought to get a CD for it. this is an recommendations-blowing browser, the single i take advantage of for selection. It has extra upload-ons than you may shake a stick at, yet you do no longer ought to apply any of them. it is likewise attainable loose on the internet.
