Ok... you do not understand the concept of RAM. Let me explain it...

RAM (random access memory) is used by the computer to store algorithms that need to be calculated. A processor can handle only so much algorithms at a time, so it stores it in the RAM cache. It then runs through them according to time in which they were stored.

There is only one way to use less RAM: go to your Task Manager (Ctrl Alt Del) and stop processes you KNOW you aren't using (like Windows Media Player) and hope you don't stop anything system-critical. IF, by chance, you DO stop anything critical, it should automatically restart and you start all over again.

Try buying a new RAM card and hiring someone to install it.

You can't delete from RAM. RAM is not so called physical memory. RAM is best thought of as the amount of programs you have open at a single time or have accumulated. Try closing out of other applications besides Photoshop. If that doesn't work, restart your computer and your RAM will be cleared.

If you are not sure of which processes to end then just google each one. An example of a process is "jusched.exe". A good site that will return easy answers to your search is liutilities.com. It usually comes up in the first few results in a google search.

When you end a process, it will start back up when you reboot. In the event that you end a process that needs to be running, just reboot. To stop a process from starting when you reboot, go to Start\Run and type in "msconfig" (without the quotes). Then go to the "Startup" tab and uncheck anything you don't want to startup. Again, google each one in order to know if it is a necessary process or not. After you reboot there will be a confirmation box that comes up on your desktop. Check the box and hit "Ok". If you have a Dell for instance, there will be a bunch of Dell processes running in the background. Just about all that junk can go. A healthy computer on average runs about 25-40 processes.

Just like someone else said, run some spyware and antivirus scans. Download the following software and run them.

Spyware:

http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10401314.html?tag=lst-0-1

Antivirus:

http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10703202.html?tag=lst-0-1

You need to run both Ad-Aware AND Spybot to get all the spyware on your PC.

If you are running Windows XP, min RAM should be 512mb. Windows Vista is about 3.5 times that.

Healthy computing!

RAM is short for Random Access Memory. It's used by your OS and everything in there is temporary.

If your RAM is filled up or it says that you don't have enough RAM, then you need to either close out other programs that may be using RAM or get more RAM.

Click Contrl-alt-del and select the Processes tab. This will lead you to all the progarmmes that are currently running in your RAM. Many of them are junk. I find that lots of programmes I install are configured by default to load when the computer starts up. You can stop some of the ones you don't need at the time. Trouble is, it's difficult to tell what many of them are.

Save your data first, because you may inadvertently stop a programme that is really needed and may have to restart your machine.

RAM is the desktops RANDOM get right of entry to memory it capacity the extra you have the faster your computing gadget is yet to be certain that a activity to run extra powerful you ought to appear on the standards that bypass some thing like this: Microsoft abode windows XP SP2-2.8GHz CPU or equivalent however the biggest factor you seem at is this the 1gb RAM meaning your computing gadget must be able to run and shop up with a 1gb working speed (meaning it quite is continually dealing with out the time you play the activity) then it says some thing like this 5900 extremely with 128mb RAM/ ATI radeon x700 with 128MB RAM or greater- 15GB annoying disk area (this suggests you ought to have 15GB or extra of area plus with the ability to run the (quantity) GHz standards. No video games dont take out of your ram stress yet they do require a great portion of it, and you cant get right of entry to your ram what so ever, to get extra ram you % extra memory thats all there is to it. RAM= RANDOM get right of entry to memory like I easily have a 130GB annoying stress and that i will easily run a 15gb activity completely. the final factor i ought to declare to you is while you're gazing the minimun standards that the activity has, in case you have them it does no longer recommend that it will run completely, that for the period of trouble-free terms happens in case you have the suggested gadget standards.

You need a quicky lesson in how computers work, OR a L-O-N-G lesson in how computers work. (Depends on your ability to grasp things).

You can't delete files in RAM cuz there ain't no files to delete.

However, you can get more RAM (Random Access Memory). Get the right chips (RAM) and install them (easy to do).

Get as much as you can afford cuz it is worth it.

Well, I would recommend you get an upgrade on ram. Your computer will become allot faster and you can run allot of programs at once.

You should atleast have 512mb RAM. Its pretty good.

If you want better performance and speed get 1GB RAM.

If you want something real fast and with good performance, get anything better than 1GB.

DO NOT ! go to Task manager and simply end any program. You might stop a program that Windows needs running for it to operate.

For your system to not have enough virtual memory to open any application tells me that you might have a virus or spyware/malware running. A virus or spyware/malware eats up your system resources. Try scanning your computer for a virus. If you don't have one I'd advise you to get Ad-aware which is free for spyware, and AVG which is also free for Virus'.

AVG = http://www.download.com/3000-2239_4-10703202.html

Ad-aware = http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007/3000-8022_4-10719977.html?tag=lst-0-1
