Question:
Random ticking noises from my computer tower?

A couple of days ago my computer started making really random clicking noises, like a loud clock, but only one tick at a time and like I said, very random. Is this normal and can I fix it? Or is my hard drive dying? I had some problems with my cd drive, could this be it? (It opened randomly, but it doesn't anymore) I don't have a flashdrive to back everything up yet, if it's serious, will not going on the computer buy me time until I can get one and back everything up?

It may be your disc drive, or it could be the hard drive.

The easiest test is to begin by starting something that activates the drives - such as listening to a CD or watching a DVD movie for the disc drive, or watching a video or listening to MP3's on the hard drives. Then actually getting next to the computer case and listening to it to find out where the sound is coming from...

Although with your new information, I would say it is most likely your hard drive dying. I would suggest using a USB external hard drive to save all your data (files, music, movies, pictures, etc) off of the computer and get ready to buy a new internal drive (if one is still available for it).

Well... the last time I heard ticking from a computer the hard drive crashed about 2 hours later... start backing up important stuff!

i think of that is actual a issue with the opticalcontinual (same undertaking occurred to me sorta) if the noise stops once you open the opticalcontinual then that is that or basically attempt to lean something on the area of the case
