MS Access: How do I close "print preview" of a form that I have the "x" (close) box disabled on?

I disabled the close button in the top right corner of the form and put in a "close form" button. Someone using the form went into print preview and the "x" close button was disabled there too. How does a person close the "print preview" screen without exiting Access or the database? Or do I somehow have to disable print preview to prevent this problem?

Disabling Print Preview would be good. If You can't disable PP, You may want to enable the PRINT PREVIEW toolbar (instead of suppressing it) so that the CLOSE option is available to Your end-users. There are a couple of other ways (unless You diabled them) but I don't know if You'd want your end-users to do any of them.

From the Toolbar VIEW>>Toolbars>>PrintPreview, then click "Close" and it will go back the default form view.

Switch to "Design" view, then back to FORM view using the "VIEW" droplist on the standard toolbar.

F11 to unhide the DB window, then You should be able to RIGHT-CLICK the form and select "OPEN" from the pop-up menu to exit PP.

When modifying window control, disabling some actions; as you have found can be set with properties on a form (and report) design. This is only the first step!

If you are going to the trouble of controlling windows, you need to really consider adding the second step of creating custom toolbars and menu bars.

Assuming it version 2003 (or earlier), you need to manually create a toolbar and add the button icons required so for example for a report design I normally create a toolbar (called 'PPMode') and add a 'Print', 'Close' and 'Zoom' icons.

Then for each report I create and wish to control the users actions in print preview, I attach the custom toolbar to the reports property (Toolbar) which supersedes the standard.

The next time I run a report no matter what general setting you have for a Window, I know my custom Toolbar appears.

hope this helped.

To the right, above the Print Preview, there is a small white X. Click on it. The database will still be opened, and you can open object. To completely close the database, click on the Office button, then click Close Database at the bottom of the list. As long as you don't completely close the database, you can still work in it.

particular, yet given which you're a snake or a mafia variety boss.. the assumption needless to say to assist you to backstab your enemy without opposition. apparently Samurai way of existence in Japan frowned upon such behaviour making assassinations harder and greater call for for bigger potential. i think of mr regularly occurring keeps his acquaintances closer as his enemies are in all probability the two stressful and non deadly to his life.
