Question:
Deviantart server down?

Last night while I was on Deviantart while using Google Chrome certain pages and journals would go to a "Server not found" page. If i kept retrying or refreshing it, it wouldn't do anything, just kept going to that page. I looked at different Google Chrome solutions and tried different things with my anti virus (Avasta!) and even uninstalled it. I tried restarting my computer, too. I switched to Google Chrome because Internet Explorer was extremely slow. I tried it on Internet Explorer but the page still couldn't find the server, I also downloaded Firefox with the same results. It only seems to be doing it for Deviantart, because other sites are working fine.

I live in Edmonton, Alberta and have Shaw as well.

I haven't been able to access it from my 4 computers at home, but I can access it at my work ( which has Telus).

Anyone call Shaw and complain yet?

Also, does anybody know how long it'll take before DA will start working again...?

I'm in Alberta,Canada and I'm having the same problem too. Yo this is getting really annoying i haven't been able to go onto DA for two days now.

I tried using trace route (tracert) in command prompt and it says "unable to resolve target name" and deviantart can't be pinged either, from my computer at least.

I'm guessing on this but either it's deviantart's isp that causing these problems. Cause i can`t ping their website`s server on st-deviantart.com, it always times out. So its probably that or It's a problem with our isp's. I have Shaw cable internet, and you know how much shaw cable sucks sometimes. Their dns entries probably haven't been updated yet- so try contacting your internet service provider first and see what they say. I`m waiting till tomorrow to see if DA comes back up for me, and it it doesn`t im calling shaw to see what they think about this. I`m probably gonna get them to load up the site on their server to see if it works there =)

Yo if it helps a few days before deviantart shut down for me it stopped uploading some pictures/pages on the site. Or it would take so long to upload a page the connection would get timed out. Exactly like the other users here. Well actually this glitchyness has been going on since Deviantart got the new website layout. Maybe theres a glitch in the website's new layout?

I've been having the same issue as well for the past 2 days.

I'm also getting the "Server not found" page when accessing deviantart.

I asked a friend in another country to check my page, and I'm not banned.

I'm also in Alberta, and using Shaw internet.

I didn't see any mention of problems on Deviantart's twitter.

I asked them a question but haven't received a response yet.

This makes nine people I know of who are getting 'server not found' messages from deviantART, myself included.

It seems OS and browser have no bearing on the problem, seeing people report it for Mac and PC, on Firefox, IE, Safari, and Chrome. Region seems to be the determining factor.

I've spoken to one of my friends in the US, who can still access dA, and apparently there is nothing noted about a problem so far. He has sent in a help ticket with my username and those of my two friends here in Alberta who are having the same problem. But it's been three days by now for me, so either nobody's told them yet, or it's not a problem from their end.

Well I've been looking around at other askers who've posted about this very problem mere hours ago, and it looks like Deviantart is only down for some people. Two of the ones with problems, including myself, live in British Columbia, Canada and use Shaw.

Hm.

Okay, I'm also in Alberta and using Shaw.

I'm officially going to blame it on them, and if it doesn't work by the end of tomorrow, I'm calling in to complain. This is complete bullshit, some of us actually have business we do on there -- and yeah, the internet isn't foolproof. But seriously?

Not cool.
