Question:
What are the standard PIXEL dimensions of a CD cover?

I bought a Playstation 1 game that has no cover art, so I downloaded the art and want to print it out. I don't want to waste paper trying to figure out the right size to fit in the case and I don't want to use a program to size it automatically, because my experience with those has been very unfruitful. I don't need to know any 4 x 4.175 or anything. I'm aware of the INCHES. I need to resize it in Microsoft Picture Manger. Can someone please tell me the dimensions where I can resize, save, and print and it perfectly fit in the case. That goes for front and back. Thanks!

Mercuri and raptor_clw have it. The number of pixels don't matter. It's the dimensions in inches or centimetres that count. Some image editors (such as GIMP) allow you to set a printable size separately from the display size.

I think CD front covers are usually 12cm (4.7 inch) tall by 12.5cm (4.9 inch) wide. Add another 0.5 cm (0.2 inch) in width for the back cover.

EDIT: To get good printing quality you should probably keep the image resolution at about 300dpi. I usually have mine as about 600dpi.

You can get some good pre-made covers here:

EDIT 2: I recommend you get a better image editor. MS Picture Manager isn't great. There's plenty of free stuff out there, like GIMP (steep learning curve) or Paint.NET (decent features, easy to use).

Pixels are used to measure screens and are different sizes depending on the quality of the screen. Perhaps you meant points, like the printers measure? 72 of those to an inch. Sorry but your question doesn't make sense you can't change pixels to a measurement of an object.

Pixels don't have any dimensions. They are just conventions. ( You can have both 640x480 and 1024x768 resolutions on the same monitor. The monitor doesn't change, only the size of the pixel does)

You can select the dimension of the pixel when you print something. It is measured in "dpi" = dots per inch.

The usual is 300dpi. You can get the CD cover dimensions by using this information ( 4 * 300 = 1200 pixels .. etc )

Best of luck!

Inches are the only thing that matters. Pixels are all relative. You could have a single pixel be 1 inch square. Heck, pixels don't even have to be square, they can be rectagular... some monitors even have round pixels.

The point I'm trying to make is that there are no "standard pixel dimensions" of a CD-cover.

As you mention you bought a Playstation 1 game that has no cover art, so you downloaded the art and want to print it out. But don't want to waste paper trying to figure out the right size to fit

I generally use RonyaSoft CD DVD Label Maker,

it has a lot of ready to use templates and it is not necessary

to specify the size manually and i am satisfied with

results.
