Standard System Restore is debatable when restoring that long ago.

The bext way to do it is insert your Recovery Disc

If you REALLY want to return it to its new state you need to clean up the disc COMPLETELY. If somebody is really keen - the police - even then they can recover the files written to the disc. SO formatting and reload doesn't really do this.

If you want a totally clean computer buy a new disc and replace the one in the machine. Then take a big hammer to the old one.

perform system recovery ( not system restore) and this will restore your computer back to just as it was when you first brought it,

if there are any files or folders that you want to save then copy these on to a recordable cd-rom disk first as system recovery will delete anything that you may have installed since. have all the necessary installation disks at hand so you can reinstall items like the printer and webcam when the system recovery is finished. good luck

I have done this many times!

There are a few ways to do this as it does depends on the person.

If you have a laptop, the installation files should have been supplied on the hard drive and on a CD inwhich you switch on your laptop on with the disk in the drive and follow the instruction.

For PCs that were purchased as is like some package such as HP ect..., you should have your installation disk at hand.

Place that disk in your DVD/CD rom drive and boot and follow the instructions.

There usually are 2 or 3 options:

a) Format a hard drive - then install (this clear everything as new)

b) or just install (Just install will replace any damaged Windows files that might have been giving a problem but keeps all your hardware setting and documents intact and this resolves a lot of problems.

This works great and you should not worry about a thing! best of luck!

If you have the windows install CD you can reformat your computer and it will install a squeeky clean new OS.

the restore will work, but some files will remain. hit start and access programs. look for accessories. look for system restore. follow directions. good luck. k

When you first bought your PC you should have made a system recovery disk.

Put that in when your PC first boots and then it will restore that way. It make take up to an hour or two though
