The quickest way is by using a piece of software called Dropbox. I've started using it recently and its awesome. If I invite you then you get extra online space for free and can send files up to 2gb with the free account. The other person you are sending the file to doesnt have to have it installed, but if they do then you can set up a shared folder. If you set up a shared folder, then any file you copy into the folder will automatically transfer to their computer, and vice versa. Its definitely worth checking out:

Split it up mate! If you have Windows, I know of a great freeware utility called Splitter and Merger. it will split your files and add a merger application so that your friend can merge the files after they have downloaded to his computer. You can also choose the file size to split the files into like 1MB or so, and it may even offer compression. The original author's site has gone offline (http://web.domaindlx.com/markus/splitter/zips/splitter55_uk.zip) but an alternative download link is available from http://cuthut.com/lpE

And gmail.com allows like 20 meg so you buy a memory stick and mail it to them.

Most email providers will not allow large file attachments. And it is not just the email provider that you use, it will depend on your friends email provider as well.

Try an instant messaging service with file transfer, such as AIM. Always very quick.

how big is the file? if its under a couple of hundred mb then upload to a site (rapidshare, megaupload, 4sharing etc.) and then send your friend the link :) that or just load it onto a flash memory stick and give it to him that way :)
