Just right-click the attachment, click on Open with... and select the program that you need to open it. You can also right-click the attachment, go to Properties and do it there.

Double click on My Computer.
Select Tools > Folder Options > File Types.
Add an association between a program installed on your PC and the attachment file type (extension).

Right click on the file, that will bring up a dialogue box, then choose "open with" this will bring up a list of programs. Depending on the type of file, choose the program you want to open that file with.
If you right click on the file, then choose properties, you can select which program to "associate" that file with. That is, choose which program all those types of files will be opened with in the future.
